The George Rickey Foundation is currently accepting submissions for the George Rickey Catalogue Raisonné Project.

The George Rickey Catalogue Raisonné Project is an ongoing initiative of the George Rickey Foundation to document and research the complete sculptural output of George Rickey (1907-2002). The first-ever catalogue raisonné of the artist’s work, this long-term project will include the following works created between c. 1949, when Rickey shifted his primary focus to making sculpture, and his death in 2002: all three-dimensional work, including unique and editioned sculptures as well as sculptural studies for both realized and unrealized projects; design objects including furniture, household items, jewelry, and toys; and two-dimensional works that directly relate to his sculptural practice, including drawings, embossments, and prints. Work created before c. 1949; any drawings, murals, paintings, and prints not directly related to Rickey’s sculptural output; and two-dimensional preparatory product, including technical drawings and studio sketches, will not be included.

The catalogue raisonné will also include exhibitions and published bibliographic references related to Rickey’s sculptural output as well as writings by the artist from the period covered by the project. Exhibitions and bibliographic references from before 1949 or that exclusively related to other facets of Rickey’s creative practice will not be included.

Supporting the George Rickey Foundation’s mission to advance the appreciation and understanding of the life and work of George Rickey, the catalogue raisonné will be published digitally to make it as accessible as possible and updated regularly as new information and research comes to light.

Please contact the George Rickey Foundation if you own, have owned, or have any knowledge about a sculptural work by or believed to be by George Rickey. Informal and initial inquiries may be sent to catalogue@georgerickey.org. To officially submit a work for inclusion in the George Rickey Catalogue Raisonné Project, please complete the artwork submission form and email to catalogue@georgerickey.org or send by mail to George Rickey Foundation Inc., 5 Computer Drive West, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205). Submitted materials will become part of the George Rickey Archives. Owner information will be kept confidential and restricted by those who request confidentiality.
